No Bake Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

I’m trying to hold onto summer as long as possible. Summer Skillet Corn

August always reminds me of the bountiful sweet corn harvest. I’ve watched many of the farms on the east end of Long Island transform themselves from barren dirt-covered fields to  symmetrical rows of the lush, rigid corn stalks, jutting up towards the sky. Chilled Blueberry Mint Soup

It's Seriously Soupy Sunday, featuring one of my favorite bloggers Serena, who authors a blog called Seriously Soupy.  Serena started Seriously Soupy as a creative outlet for herself after her first daughter was born, which combined her passion for cooking with an interest in learning more about soups and soup making. Since it started she has given soup tours and taught soup classes and has a catologue of over 100 soups on the site! You can join Serena on her Soupy journey at SeriouslySoupy.com and twice a month you can find her here, at My … [Read more...]

Apple Clafoutis

When I first started sorting through Mom’s recipes, I circled all of the words that (at the time) were completely meaningless to me.  Among them: parboiled, pin prick, blanched and CLAFOUTIS. In my kitchen-clueless mind, Clafloutis sounded more like some sort of tree fungus rather than a celebrated baked custard French dessert.  Apparently, a traditional clafoutis contains cherries arranged in a buttered dish covered with … [Read more...]
