We spent the better part of the weekend packing and organizing many bags of clothing and dry goods to donate to various organizations for distribution to Hurricane Sandy victims. And, we capped off the weekend with a modest bake sale complete with crudely-baked cupcakes, signs and kid art. In the end, the kids and friends raised over $1000 in under 90 minutes! My kids know how extremely lucky we are. Three days later, we're still incredulous as we watch footage of the mass devastation from Hurricane Sandy in towns not far from here. Just a few block south we have many friends and neighbors still without power, evacuated from buildings, suffering major loss from the floods. We're going on our third day hunkered down inside our apartment due to the wrath of Hurricane Sandy. Luckily we're now on the other side of the storm, unscathed. Schools are closed again tomorrow. With all of this unexpected togetherness, besides getting on esch others' nerves and watchin the round the clock storm coverage on the news, we've been baking and eating up our own storm.
